I’m not a big sale shopper. A girlfriend recently told me that her mom never looked at price tags while shopping (don’t roll your eyes, keep reading). She would try on only clothes she loved and THEN look at the price to see if she could afford it.
Buying because “it’s a good deal” is a surefire way to ensure your closet is full of things that don’t fit quite right and that you don’t really love. Today’s post features a few staples I get complimented on every single time I wear them. They last forever, and I feel gorgeous when I wear them. Some are on sale, some are not. No affiliate links, just giving you my faves, because while you’re shopping for everyone else today, get yourself a little something too.
Henri Bendel Bags
You may have heard that Henri Bendel’s is going out of business after 123 years. I was so devastated when I heard the news that I went on an online buying spree. The items I bought are sold out, but these are still in stock and I suggest getting them now, they will be gone. Also, they are on sale.
The Tilda Satchel is a classic, GET IT MONOGRAMMED. Buy HERE.
The iconic brown and white stripe will always say luxury to me. I just treated myself to a monogrammed passport cover and luggage tag, I think you should too. Get it monogrammed or you are dead to me, buy HERE.
Ramy Brook Paris Dress
This is a classic dress, I have it in every color. It’s a sundress, add sparkly shoes and it’s a sexy night out dress, put a blazer over it and bam you are Business Barbie. If you don’t own any Ramy Brook, this is a great first piece. This is the most forgiving waist you will ever wear, it’s basically a giant piece of relaxed elastic. It also comes in long sleeves if you hate your arms, but I don’t think you should hate your arms.
Buy HERE. Use code CYBERMON30 for 30% off – this dress is rarely on sale and is worth it at full price.
Sam Edelman Shoes
What you say, no Louboutins? Of course I love luxury shoes, but Sam Edelmans are my dirty little secret. They are cheap, they knock off big designer styles AND they are sold on Zappos. This Linnie Bit Mule is $130 – it’s a knock off of a Gucci flat that sells for $1,000. Buy a pair on Sam Edelman HERE and use code MORESAM – the savings are scaled based on how much you spend.
One of my other fave Sam Edelman shoes is the Ariella Ankle Strap. It comes in a stiletto or a block heel (the stiletto is actually fairly walkable, but the block heel is nice with jeans) multiple heel heights and several colors. And they are only $100 – I own several pair, they are really well made, true to size, as comfortable as heels can be and they last. Did I mention they are ONLY $100 – and that’s before you use today’s code. Buy on Sam Edelman HERE and use the code MORESAM. But remember they are on Zappo’s with one day shipping the next time you have a shoe-mergency.
The Only Scarf You Will Ever Need – Late Sunday Afternoon
I found this scarf at my favorite boutique in Old Greenwich, The Back 40 Mercantile. It has gone with me on every single trip for a year. It keeps me warm on the plane and snazzes up simple outfits. They bless every scarf they make and also donate a blanket to a child in need for every scarf sold. They aren’t on sale, but you should buy one anyway. The fabrics always change since they use dead-stock, go online HERE and pick your fave. This size is $160.
Alice and Olivia Tank
I buy a lot of Alice and Olivia but this particular tank has become such a wardrobe staple you need to know about it. It’s hard to find a camisole that isn’t either super slutty or sticks to your gut in an unflattering manner. The Harmon Drapey Silk Tank is thick enough to be flattering and cut to fall just right. I wear it with cute pants and a big necklace, jeans and blazer, or with a skirt. I own it in multiple colors and it’s my super easy go-to. Buy at Alice and Olivia HERE – it’s on sale today for 25% off, no code needed.
Go Silk Travel Clothing
The brand Go Silk makes really gorgeous clothing that you can toss in the washer. The pieces aren’t easy to find, I usually buy them in boutiques when I see them. Doing a search today I found that Nieman Marcus carries the brand, but they apparently only buy the ugly designs. Two items I bought recently, and have been asked about every time I wear them, are a pair of velvet pants that are as comfortable as sweats and a silk skirt. These can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with t-shirts and sandals. The only place I could find them online was at Go Silk, and they are not cheap, nor are they on sale. They are worth it. You will look dressed up, but secretly be crazy comfortable. AND you can toss them in the machine. These photos are hella ugly, and I’m too lazy to get dressed and do a photo shoot, even for you. You’ll have to trust me. Also, buy your size, they run a tiny bit big. Buy HERE.
