Just because the kids beg to go to Atlantis doesn’t mean they get to have all the fun. Atlantis has some of the best nightlife in the Caribbean. It’s great for girlfriend getaways, mom and dad time, or in my case, Mommy/Macie time. The first time we went to Atlantis she thought the teen club Crush was the bomb. On our most recent trip I taught her to gamble. Here’s a quick guide to all the fun you can have WITHOUT your kids (unless they are 18).
The Casino
I love to gamble, not too much, just a little shoe money. My two favorite games are Craps and Jackpot Party. Of course you know what Craps is, Atlantis has 85 table games including Craps, Blackjack, Roulette and more. I love the energy at a Craps table and I often win. Don’t know how to play? They have gaming lessons daily. Jackpot Party is a slots game and I cannot explain why I love it so much. I taught Macie how to change her money, play the game and cash out. Once she was up $50 she decided she’d had enough, took her winnings and left. Good girl.
Nightclubs
The two real club experiences are Cain – the adults only pool at the Cove – and Aura Nightclub. Only Cove guests over 18 are allowed at Cain, there is gaming and a serious scene here. It’s huge, 9,000 square feet pool with 20 private cabanas. There is no way to buy access, even if you are a Reef guest, or just really really want to go. I learned this the hard way.
Aura Nightclub is upstairs from the Casino and does not get hopping until after midnight even though the doors open at 10pm (yes, I showed up at 10, I was all alone). Every night of our recent trip Macie asked me to “hit the club with her”. Yes, I know I’m lucky my teen wants to hang out with me, but in the middle of the night? Finally on the last night I had to make good on my promise. It was just like I remembered every nightclub to be, except no Tone Loc. I love that it’s all on property, it’s fun and it’s safe. There is a resort shuttle that runs all night to get you back to your bed safely, whether that’s at 10pm or 2am. There is a dress code, no flip flops, ladies are free and it’s open Thursday to Saturday.
Golf and Tennis
When you get tired of the water slides (said no child ever), you can hit the gorgeous oceanfront championship golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf or take a lesson on one of the tennis courts with a view.
Mandara Spa
Nothing says “grown ups only” like a good spa, which is probably why I’ve never had a spa day at Atlantis. I visited Mandara Spa on my most recent trip but only for a quick mani. They have a full spa with hot and cold pools, sauna, massages, facials, and my dream treatment – a four hands massage. Next time.
Here’s a little video I did with Atlantis highlighting all the adult fun at the resort.
We were hosted by Atlantis for the purpose of creating these videos. Macie gambled with her own money, and took her winnings. Luxury Travel Mom editorial not sponsored.
