Marigot Bay Resort and Marina by Capella – Birthday Giveaway

Marigot Bay Resort and Marina by Capella

Regular Luxury Travel Mom readers know that my favorite thing to do for my birthday is to share my favorite places with my favorite people – you! Today is my birthday and this year is a special giveaway I am SO EXCITED about.

Marigot Bay Resort St. Lucia

About Marigot Bay Resort and Marina

The Marigot Bay Resort and Marina by Capella is a gorgeous resort on St. Lucia, and as a lover of the islands I am so excited to help promote much needed tourism to the Caribbean and to share this gem of a getaway with you.

Marigot Bay literally sits in a hurricane hole, and the name of the brand new cafe opening in October  reflects it. But more than just being protected, the area is so beautiful that the novelist James Michener once called it “The most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.”

And on this gorgeous bay sits the ultra luxe Marigot Bay Resort and Marina with not one but two freshwater infinity pools on the upper and lower levels of the resort.

Read more about all of the options at Marigot Bay Resort here.

Beaches, Beaches and more Beaches

With half a dozen beaches offering the chance to swim with turtles, hike around historic sugar mills or snorkel around a coral reef, no one will say “there’s nothing to do mom.” The geography of the island means that the resort sits in an actual hurricane hole (I know I keep saying this, but did you know these existed? I didn’t)  and is internationally recognized as a port of safe harbor. Read more about the ridiculous amount of beaches here.

Fun for Mom (and Dad) but Really Mom

The activity list reads like my bucket list, rum infusing? Yes please. Horseback riding followed by kayaking? Seriously, do they know me? You swim WITH your horse, then you go kayaking. Then you could have rum, and then a spa, and then a nap, because there’s a kids’ club. Did I mention that you swim with your horse? I did this once in Turks and Caicos and I actually cried when the horse started swimming underneath me, it’s literally one of my favorite memories….that and my wedding and childbirth etc. blah blah.

Want to include the kids? There are sailing classes for the entire family, you can also hike the rainforest with a ranger. They offer cooking classes – you know that’s not my jam – but maybe they could teach my kids and then someone would get a homemade meal occasionally? Pretty sure this is not a photo of a sailing class….but you get the idea.

Sexy people learning to sail

And the bar at the hotel? It’s the RUM CAVE people. THE RUM CAVE

Where is St. Lucia and Were They Affected by Recent Hurricanes?

According to data assembled by the Caribbean Hurricane Network (stormcarib.com), only 14 hurricanes have moved closer than 60 miles to St. Lucia since 1850. There is something called a “Hurricane Belt” – an area more frequently hit by hurricanes. Many islands (like Aruba) market themselves as being “south of the hurricane belt”. As a traveler and a lover of the islands, I think it’s important that we continue to spend our much needed tourism dollars where we can and support the islands that need help recovering. The New York Times did a great piece on How to Help.
